Ultralight Backpacking
Lightweight backpackers will tell you that ultralight backpacking is not about being able to cover
as many miles as possible, but being able to take the time to enjoy their surroundings without the strain of a
heavy backpack full of unnecessary equipment.
Ultralight backpacking also takes less of a toll on the body and so the backpacker need not worry about injuries
while backpacking. Some may consider ultralight backpacking to be only taking along a blanket and some food but
this is not so. Ultralight backpacking is ultimately packing the lighter equivalents of your regular equipment.
Ultralight backpacking can still be comfortable and safe without having to purchase expensive
equipment or cheap products that seriously lack in quality. The trick is to just lighten your main three items,
which are your sleeping bag, backpack and tent. Once these three have been lightened you will notice a considerably
lighter backpack and will enjoy your backpacking experience a little more. One doesn’t really ever need to leave
out any items but instead get lighter ones. For example if you are backpacking on your own you don’t need to take
two or three pots but just one.
Ultralight backpacking is ultimately the best form of backpacking as it offers the most comfort to
anyone who tries it. However, it takes a little while to become an expert lightweight backpacker, as learning what
to include or exclude takes some figuring out. Ultralight backpacking is the best and most comfortable way to enjoy
nature without the burden of a heavy load that just results in exhaustion and injury.
Many might think that ultralight backpacking is dangerous because you
forego quality and safety for a high risk adventure, but anyone who does lightweight backpacking will tell you
otherwise; ultralight backpacking is just as safe as, if not safer than, normal backpacking.
